ledge is a group of innovative artists brought together by the belief that community is a value that not only nurtures and feeds our art but also helps us connect to the larger society. We become stronger as we reject isolation and fuse our experiences. Through joint and solo projects, we struggle for a better understanding of the nuances of our culture. As our practices converge, separate and then converge again, we seek to make a whole greater than the sum of its parts in our effort to communicate. Exhibit at San Diego Art Institute Features Judith Parenio's Work

The reception will be on Saturday, May 9, 2009, 6:00-9:00 pm, at 4 Walls, during the Ray at Night event, at 3813 Ray Street, San Diego, 619-501-0879. This exhibition at the Front Porch Gallery, 2903 Carlsbad Boulevard, Carlsbad, features the visions of four artists as they explore the luminous depths of this ancient art form. Experience the magic of ideas hidden then revealed through the translucent, layered effect of the beeswax and pigments. The exhibit includes paintings, mixed-media and sculptural pieces that intrigue the eye and illuminate the intuitive mind. The opening is Saturday, March 28, 2009, from Noon-3:00 pm, with an Artists’ Walk-Through at 1:00 pm. There will be hors d’oeuvres & live music by Clay Colton. The show runs through May 3, 2009. Process, Collection, Selection, ledge’s new show in the making What is important in our lives? What speaks from our authentic selves? What actions do we want to take to express our thoughts and feelings? What do we pitch in our mental dumpster and what do we rescue? How do we convert our brain-churning thoughts into something tangible? As we work in our characteristic ways, we acquire information, data, do research, learn, forget, discard and sometimes re-learn. We act by whittling away, looking for the essential, the core. These are the concerns we address in our new work: Process, Collection, Selection.
